What do I do with my OKCU pre-approval?

  • Once you're pre-approved, you'll get a pre-qualification letter by email
  • Have your pre-approval email ready with you when you visit the dealership
  • Tell the dealers you're pre-approved with Oklahoma's Credit Union, not just OKCU as this could be confused with other financial institutions

What should I expect at the dealership?

So you've found your dream car, now what? Take a look at these tips to get you ready to make your auto buying decision. 
  • All borrowers and co-signers must go to the dealership to sign
  • You should expect to complete and have all parties sign a written credit application at the dealership
  • The primary borrower should be listed first on all paperwork

What should I expect from my rate and payments?

  • Your interest rate could increase if:
    • The vehicle is over 5 years old
    • The vehicle has over 100,000 miles
    • The vehicle has a value less than the loan amount
    • Your vehicle is classified as a heavy-duty vehicle
    • Your auto loan term is over 75 months
  • Your interest rate could also increase if you decide not to set up automatic payments.
  • Dealers can only set up monthly payments, but OKCU can offer biweekly payments. Just let your loan officer know what your preference is.
  • Dealers typically schedule the first payment 45 days out from signing, but you can ask to schedule it up to 90 days out from signing.
