What is changing?
We have chosen to change our name from Oklahoma Employees Credit Union to Oklahoma's Credit Union. We also updated our logo to reflect our new name. We have kept our colors, purple and green, to carry forward into this change. Along with our tagline, Happy to Help.
Why is it changing?
This process was prompted by an update to our mission and core values. As we began to think of better ways to serve our members, we explored the idea of changing our name. Now that we serve more than just state employees, we felt the need to update our name and logo to better reflect our membership and its eligibility. After all, you are the reason we're here.
State employees are the foundation of our credit union and our commitment to state employees will remain the same.
What does this mean for me?
There will be no interruption in member service. You will still be able to use your current online banking, checks, debit cards and credit cards. You will not need to order anything new. We will update checks and cards in the future, when they become out of date. Account numbers and all functionalities will stay the same.
Our logo will be replaced over time. This is the most cost-effective and least disruptive approach for implementing the change across the credit union. Not everything will happen right away. As you can imagine, there are a lot of updates to be made! So, we ask for your patience during this process.
Why are you dropping the word "Employees"?
Our name is changing to better reflect the field of membership we serve. Particularly when talking to people who are unfamiliar with OECU, we’ve found “Employees” to be misleading in that people commonly think you have to be a state employee to be eligible for membership.
Is this due to a merger or acquisition?
No. We have the same Board of Directors, management and membership. Only the name and logo have changed.
What is the short version of the new name?
We're moving from OECU to OKCU.
Will your website URL change?
Yes, but we don't have timeline yet. Once we update the URL we will forward www.oecu.org to the new address for a very long time.
